Firehawk owners, prepair to puke...

Problem is, Firehawk has nothing to do with Firebird. Firehawk was a tire and a series. SLP put Firestone Firehawk tires on a Firebird, hence the name.
The original Firehawks were extensively modified and very expensive. They didn't sell well. The 4th gens were mainly a cop out and a lot cheaper. Most came with the basics, hood, exhaust, and upgraded wheels/tires. Some opted for a suspension package.
The current Firehawk is more closely to the original Firehawk. Major mods and very expensive. My guess is that they will sell like the originals, not very well.

I agree, Rob. I don't think these new "Firehawks" will sell well (hopefully). And I know the Firehawk was mainly because of the Firestone tires, but it only made sense that they used the Firebird platform for the name, instead of say... A Rustang or a Corvette.

I'm not wanting it to fail. Its a great car and hope it has success. I think it will fail in a sales sense like the original Firehawks failed. It just costs too much as it did then.
I thought the 89 TTA was the best F-Body ever. Fastest(no speed limiter) and best handling stock F-Body with great gas mileage. It didn't sell well because of price and took forever to sell them. Same went with the Firehawk. People have a perceived cost limit and these cars seemed to cross that line and hence are hard sellers.
The G8 Firehawk falls into that category. Great car but price is the killer for the deal.

Is there some way to prevent this dishonor? What a George Lucas thing to do, totally screw up a great thing just because you're too brain dead to get over your past glory and come up with something new. If you buy one of these and see a real red Firehawk cruising NW Houston, don't try and waive, if I do respond it won't be nice.

As a new G8 owner who just got rid of his TA. I am disgusted.
Also, Its a $18,995 package. Plus another $4995 if you also want the bigger brakes. So total cost for one of these puts you around $57000, plus tax tags and title.

so so stupid.
that there my friends is the reason why GM is going to hell in a hand basket
because the big wigs who makes these decisions are completely unattached
from the auto community.
hell SLP should have said something.
for crying out loud what's wrong with G8R or G8 SE or something stupid like that.

Just another wheels, intake, and exhaust car with a couple more scoops for thousands more than it's worth. I would call it a SS or Firehawk myself also. Matches perfectly. Look at me I am a sucker too.

As I understand it, the name originally came from tires, right?
With that being said - aren't the center caps and emblems slightly different than 'screaming eagle' emblem on Trans Am or Formula cars? At least they look different to me. Isn't the 'bird' in the center caps of Firehawks supposed to be a "Firehawk"? I'm just citing the difference and looking for an opinion.

The name did come from the tires. I remember when I bought mine it had the Firestone Firehawk tires on it. The bird on the center cap emblem is a little different but does look close to the old bird on the Formula's.
