Default Cleaning LE wheels

Wanting some tips on cleaning 35th LE wheels. Normal car soap and the sponge just really isn't cutting it. Anyone tried using the powerball thing that goes on your drill?

I have not tried the powerball on my LE wheels, only soap and water so far on them, i have used the powerball on my quad's wheels and it worked good for them, they are polished alum that had became dull.

DO NOT USE A POWER BALL ON WHEELS WITH A CLEAR COAT.

Unless you no longer want the clear coat on them.

Look this is really really easy,

Step 1: go to autozone or walmart
Step 2: Buy Simple Green (comes in clear plastic spray bottle with green liquid)
Step 3: spray liberally on wheels and let set for 30 or so seconds
Step 4: spray off with hose
Step 5: If brake dust is still present, go back to Autozone and buy a clear coat safe plastic bristle brush. spray on Simple green and scrub with light pressure
Step 6: dry wheels

Gotta think on this stuff guys, you have special cars, don't white trash ruin them by making rookie mistakes.

Well that's why I was asking so I didn't "white trash ruin them".

I have never used the ball on mine either, I only use soap and water on mine. How safe is simple green with clear coat?

I use Simple Green on my wheels (chrome Z06s) and on my engine bay. But... I dilute it with 50% water. It can be a little corrosive if used at full strength and allowed to sit for too long.

Yea, main thing is to try to keep them as clean as possible always so you never have to REALLY clean them. On a DD it would be tough though. Sounds like if normal soap and water isn't cutting it right now, try the green, but probably after that good thorough cleaning, soap and water would start working again. Good luck and post pics! Good clean car pics are always nice! lol.

Really got at them yesterday and they cleaned up pretty well with just car soap and water. Thinking if I want to get them where I want them though I will have to take the wheel off so I can really get at them.

Just use car soap and water.

I use Turtle Wax brand wheel cleaner that comes in a green spray bottle on our other two cars, but only use soap on the LE.

Metal polish is hard on clearcoat, don't use that.

Best way to clean any wheel.

-Remove wheel from vehicle
-Spray down both sides of wheel and tire with clean water.
-Spray down both sidewalls of tire with Simple Green 50/50 solution.
-Let stand for 10 seconds
-Using a bristle brush, scrub the tires clean with the SG. Spray on more SG as needed while scrubbing.
-After you are satisfied that the tires are clean, rinse off with water
-Now moving to the wheels themselves, spray the inner part of the wheel from the backside with SG 50/50 solution. Using a soft bristle brush begin scrubbing the inner wheel area to remove build up. You might have to repeat this step a few times.
-Rinse with Water.
-Using a 50/50 solution of SG, spray onto the face of the wheel and using a wash mitt/cloth agitate the areas most needed to be cleaned.
-Rinse with Water
-Next have a solution of car wash and water ready and a new wash mitt and clean the wheel inside and out.
-Rinse and repeat the car wash soap cleaning.
-Final rinse.
-Your wheel is now ready for a coat of your favorite polish applied in the shade. While the polish is setting before you buff it off you can start on the next wheel.

That is the technique I used to keep my CETA wheels clean and show ready.

I really think it's a dumb idea to clean the wheels with simple green. They're painted black just like the car is painted red with a clearcoat on top. Would you use simple green on your hood or door? I wouldn't...

If the wheels were chrome I'd change my opinion, but the simple fact is they are not.

mine are in horrible condition, the previous owner curb checked all four the rims have water stains on them and the clear wants to come off in some spots... it's not all that bad from about 10' away they look good but up close you can see my issues, i used that black wax stuff on the black part and that really brought back the life in the black as it looked really dull... i plan on getting the 17x11 c5 dd wheels and 17x9 for the car and then having the wheels stripped fixed and re-finished, found a place that does great work for $100 a wheel.
