Default Not z28, Factory LS1 badges?!?

I know things gonna sound how--out ridiculous, but here we go: I picked up a 98 Camaro LS1 6spd Cayenne metallic red. I've looked up the vin and it say its a z28. The funny thing is, it doesn't say z28 ANYWHERE on the car. In fact, there is a badge over passenger tail-light that has LS1 followed by a bowtie. Nothing behind the front wheels, nothing under the hood.

People can put badges on cars after they get through the factory...it's a crazy thing called the aftermarket world. I have a ws7 badge on my car. Anyone that knows anything knows its not factory.

Ya the badge looks totally bogus, yet old. there was a thread about special badgez that prompted this whole inquiry. Ive looked VERY closely, and there was NEVER any emblems in all the usual spots. Ive actually got (6) 4th Gen Camaros, and still dont know as much as you guys, but i know what looks funny. I thought for sure this one guy had some made up Earnheart Camaro, only to find out they ACTUALLY made some like that..

04 Corvettes and 04 GTOs had a LS1 badge on the throttle body. I do not believe there were any other LS1 badges from the factory on anything else.

Its probably a debadged Z. If the paint is original and the roof is black, thats the quickest ID of a Z28 or it could be a B4c car as stated earlier. +1 on checking the RPO codes which is the best for sure thing.
