years ago I bought this set of cats and Y pipe IIRC it was an option? its currently up in my attic so I dont have pics at the moment but what prompted me to buy was the Y pipe isnt flattened like OEM its mandrel bent and round. at the time my car had 130K on it and figred these were good if/when mine ever failed, they had like 5k on these was wondering if anyone like SLP or anyone did this? planning on selling but I'd like to ID who did this

It's a factory diameter y-pipe with factory cats?

There was never a factory option for an upgraded Y-pipe or cats, but SLP did sell a round (non-flat), upgraded version of the factory Y-pipe via their aftermarket outlet. Again though, this was never optional Y2Y content on any of the SLP cars (SS, Firehawk) nor any other model from GM/SLP/ASC; strictly an aftermarket piece.

The aforementioned Y-pipe was not sold with any sort of cat upgrade though. It bolted to the stock cats for '00-'02, and needed to be welded or band clamped on the passenger side for '98-'99.

On the other hand, I believe that Random Technology used to sell a complete cat + Y-pipe upgrade for the stock manifolds (round pipe, not flattened), not sure if they still do. Perhaps this is what you purchased years ago.

It's a aftermarket Y-pipe, Borla also made them in 304 stainless. Looks like there's is a lot more available today: http://rpmspeed.com/y-pipes/

from my research on here (ls1tech) for nearly 2 decades the general conclusion is that it's pretty useless to swap out the OEM Ypipe while keeping the OEM manifolds. Too many have said unless you plan on upgrading to LT headers it's not worth spending the money

I'm pretty sure the y-pipe in the pic you posted is from SLP.

^ I agree. Looks like an aftermarket SLP Y-pipe that was welded to the stock cat on the passenger side (driver's side cat also looks like the OEM piece). This is how the '98-'99 SLP Y-pipe was offered (weld-in only on the passenger side). 2000+ had a ball flange on both sides as they used a different cat on the passenger side than the earlier cars. This was never a factory piece nor a "Y2Y" option, only aftermarket.
