Cop Camaro's are they v6's or z28's? yet to figure it out I thought it might have been a v6 since it has no badges???? :secret2: |
Could be anything. The B4C package was designed for the Police, it's basicaly a stripped Z28. Has all the go faster goodies with few other options. So one of those would be a V8. But they may also have used V6's for other reasons. |
I have seen a B4C with a cd player. Im not sure what options it has and doesnt have but it has no badges I know. I highly doubt there are V6 cop cars that are Camaros. |
They're all Z28's. The B4C is a special package only on the Z28 that had no emblems, and heavy duty cooling and suspension package. I can't remember the other specs on it right now. |
My 1998 camaro is a former oklahoma highway patrol car. It's legally a z28 (for insurance, etc.). My brother bought it back in 2001? with over 100,000 miles on it. I think he paid around 9,000 for it back then. Now I have it, and it has over 180,000 miles, still going strong. As far as I know it's identical to any other z28, except no z28 badges - it's a sleeper ;-) |

I can't remember the other specs on it right now. B4Cs are LS1 cars that ARE NOT Z28s. B4Cs have body color tops and there is no t top option. Other than that you could option it any way you wanted (6 speed, leather, Monsoon, traction control) most B4Cs were "no option cars" which is diffrent than "strippers." B4Cs usualy were cloth interior, tape deck, foam (not leather wrapped) steering wheel, bare rubber shifter (autos), and had rear defroster, fog lights and block heater. All auto B4Cs came with 3.23s and aluminum driveshafts. (2.73 Z28s didnt have aluminum drive shafts but all 3.23 cars did). There are no Z28 badges (because its not a Z28). now some police departments ordered their cars diffrently, some came ordered them with traction control, but usualy if a car has options (M6, leather etc) it was never a police car. Some police departments (we have a V6 that Indiana State Police used as a motor pool car) used V6 cars, but they arent anything special, they are just regular V6 Camaros. Other police departments even use Z28s, but B4Cs are what I said above. |
that is what i am lookin for you can get them like dirt cheap ($8500-$10000) |
So it's just an option package for a stripper Z28...who are you kidding? |
only for the cops |
In 2002 they opened up B4C orders so anyone could order one, not just cops. Most of the ZL1's built were from B4C cars. |
as stated by Cop Car, B4C cars are not z28's nor are they strippers of z28's. totally different cars. |

Sort of related. A few years a go CHP (California Highway Patrol) orded a ton of SS Camaro's. Like stated above the Department gets to choose what they want. -William |
More info on the B4C's can be found here. www.9c1.com/brochures/index.html |

Several states bought B4C Camaros over the years. Most went to the respective state Highway Patrol departments. Often, they were called 'Police Pursuit Vehicles'. The RPO was first offered in 1991 on iron motor LT1s. It was availabe to anyone that wanted it with the help of a knowlegable GM dealer. |

(but usualy if a car has options (M6, leather etc) it was never a police car.) I would stress USUALLY. My car IS a 6 speed B4C. I have all legal papers to prove it. I got everything from the police department that bought it brand new. B4C camaros are hard to explain, you have to go out and research credible sources to find out accurate info about them. Im not saying that anyone here is not credible, its just hard to get all of the facts right. |
