My friend is buying a 2002 "SS" and we went to look at it today, looking at it the hood doesnt fit very good and neither does the spoiler, it just got new rims and tires, the guy sia dhe just put the painted SS 10 spokes on it.. so im like WTF?

and then we look through it and im like sure LS1 Camaro, ok..

then i look in the door at the stick... no WU8 code... ... keep looking, Z28 code.... go back to my car and look, WU8 with no Z28

so wtf is up with this car?!

No WU8 = Not an SS. It should also have an SLP sticker on the door even if it doesn't have any SLP options. Sounds like he just put the stuff on and is calling it an SS.

Agreed. Non slp optional equipped cars won't have an slp additional content sticker on the passenger side. All SS cars went thru SLP, but some were base alteration 'SS cars, and some had additional options such as mats, wheels, exhaust, and suspension upgrades. You can also tell whether slp options were ordered by the y2y code appearing in the driver's door sticker with all of the equipment codes, in addition to the WU8 SS appearance and performance code.

But......no WU8 means no 'SS!

my car has the WU8 code, all slp options, but no SLP sticker. I have called SLP to verify mine is a real SS and all the options did come on the car, someone al SLP was just lazy and never put the sticker on

Did you buy the car new? If not, maybe a previous owner removed the stickers. I have the SLP stickers on my car, but I bought it new from the dealer.

My '02 SS didn't have SLP decals. It didn't have any extra SLP options on it. My '99 SS did have the decals.

No WU8 = No SS

I know this car you are looking at isnt a 99 but Im pretty sure all 99s have SLP stickers because they all had the Y2Y option code, another easy way to check is just email SLP with the VIN and they can tell you.

Not a SS. The hood and spoiler are aftermarket replicas.

Can't order those pieces without a SS vin

yea the guys dad is a cop so we got the plates of the car and ran them through the DMV turns out the car was totalled 10/02 and salvaged... original Z28.. even after we knew that and confronted the guy about it he wouldnt admit to it... some people are so shady...
