Need Blackbird info....
Need Blackbird info.... I have a cousin that is looking into purchasing a 2001 Carl Black Blackbird. He says the owner told him it has 380 rear wheel horsepower. I thought these cars were 380 at the flywheel?? The owner is claiming 425 at the flywheel. The car does not appear to have a heads and cam kit.
I am trying to get the specs on any aftermarket parts the car has installed, but I doubt 380 rwhp without at least headers, cat-back(do these cars come with the GMMG exhaust?), and a cam.
Please let me know so I can tell my cousin what he is really getting into.

Re: Need Blackbird info.... I got some information from Year One's web site. It says that the cars come with an aftermarket air box lid, and some exhaust enhancements (cat-back?). It also said that with aftermarket pullies the cars make <font color="red">337 Rear Wheel Horsepower <!--color--></font>. So either the owner of this car has his horsepower rating numbers confused, or he MUST have at least a cam and headers if not cylinder heads also.

Re: Need Blackbird info.... Mike, all the Black Birds were originally sold as 380 HP cars, putting 335 to 350 to the tires.
A hand full of the birds came back for the 435 HP Phase Two package.Thats a heads cam header package and they average 395@ the wheels through cats and what not.If it does have a phase two package the throttle body and heads will be stamped as such and definitely have headers.
Again average 380 HP Black Bird makes 340 HP/350TQ @ the tires.
