Thumbs up Crane Power Tuner

Crane has introduced a new power programer for all the LS1 makes (F-body, Corvette,& trucks). The Crane programer will do so much more! Just like the others you can adjust for tire size and change your shift points but it also provides many different levels of tuning.

*Power enrichment can be used to trim fuel after the addition of a supercharger, increasing displacement, or changing injector size (should be done with a dyno).

*you can adjust timing plus or minus 10%. For example If you have installed a low restriction cat back, a 10% increase will help make more HP.

*You can also program for up to four levels of cam changes & adjust idle speed in 50 RPM increments (cams up to 228/232 @.050 & 600/600 lift)

99-02 F body & 99-04 Corvette $429.95

Just to let everyone know we are about to dyno an F body with a hot cam. We will do a base run, and then install the Crane tuner and dyno again. After that the computer will go back to stock, & install a set on Dynotech 1 3/4 headers with a Dynotech Y pipe (w/cats). Again we will dyno with the stock computer & then install the Crane tuner for one more dyno. I will post all the results as soon as I get them!! Hope to see good HP gains!!

I think everyone will be very suprised on how well this will work. The realy cool thing is, you can do the tunning yourself and not have to ship your PCM off and be with out a car for a few days. Can't wait to get this info myself!!!

OK, Here it is. We were working with a 99' F body 6 speed. The only upgrades before our header & tune install was the GM hot cam (w/springs) & a Flowmaster cat back. The Dynatech headers picked up 24 RHP & 24 ft lbs of torque. The headers mad a big increase from 3000 and up on the torque! HP increased steadly from 3000 to 6000. We tested Hypertech & Crane programmers and didn't see any gain on the Dynojet. Crane states that they have found that inertia dynos do not give a valid performance report. They use an eddy current dyno for steady state loading and an accelerometer to measure 0-60, 20-70, 50-80 MPH runs. We used the Crane programmer in the end because of the ability to adjust idle speed, and the customer wanted the future use of adjusting timming and fuel trim.

I agree, the car could be a bit weak. The one thing I didn't check was the air the day that they dynoed. That could make a big difference. If anyone is wanting to try this out, let me know. We would be happy to sell you one, and if you don't like it you can return it for a full refund (you must un instsall program & the box must be in perfict shape with all paper work in box).
