Default Driveshaft GP Anyone?

With the addition of the ultra-super-duper-sticky MT DR tires to my M6, I know my stock DS will be obliterated soon. I am sensing other racers out there will need a stronger pole as well.

Anyone?

Cool!

Any idea how much we can all save? Also, any specs on the shafts? I could have sworn I went to your website last night and didn't see it, but I have been sleep deprived lately...

I'm interested too - I checked an old thread and noticed you had 3" Chromoly shafts for $330 - are we talking about that area or better?

Same price, $330, if we can get 5 guy's! Some far looks like we have two.

Thanks

A couple questions;

What is the weight?
Does it come with u-joints and yokes?
Are they balanced?
will it fit a A4 with a Strange 12 bolt?

Good questions. Weight, i am not sure what the exact weight is. When we get the next one in here I will weigh it. They come with Spicer 1350 u-joints. They are fully balanced. You will need to measure for your proper length driveshaft.

Thanks

The new MT DR tires are going to do wonders for the TQ arm and DS sales.

I'm still in the hunt. Stupid question, how do you accurately measure out a driveshaft? Put it up on the lift and use a tape measure? Can't you just duplicate for the stock dimensions? I have mine mated up to a Strange 12 bolt as well.

It sounds like a stupid question, but what if my measurements are off by like a 1/4 inch or something

You measure it from the trans seal to the centerline of the u-joint. We have made a lot of DS's and most of the time no body has the same measurement. So it is hard for us to just make a DS and hope that it fit's. If you measure it we can make it to that measurement. If it doesn't fit then it would be our fault, as long as your measurement is correct. Hope that answered your question. It is pretty simple to measure for a DS.

BTW, if you need a direct replace for a stock drive shaft we do have those measurements ready to go. It's only the guys with the 9" rears and 12 bolts that we need a measurement for.

Ok thanks. I was confused because I'm using the stock driveshaft with the 12 bolt, and did nothing to make it fit.

Plug and play is a beautiful thing. Looks like I'll get the Z28 on the lift this weekend...

I'll be in this boat too
doesn't this mean a "stock' dimension ds will fit since you have a stock one in now?

How do these compare with something like the Denny's Steel Driveshaft?

I am currently sitting at 531rwhp, but plan to be going bigger cubes and more boost. (maybe in the 700s at the wheels) Drag radials for street tires and plan to run slicks at the track.

Thanks

Hey Chris

I still want to get this thing going, and I got a few more questions, sorry.

This is a chrome moly 3" right? So I would assume it is lighter than a steel DS? If so, I am in. Any pics? And of course it will come balanced, right?

Also, I am still confused , I am replacing my stock DS that is mated up to my 12 bolt. That said, wouldn't I just request a new one that clones the stock dimensions? The 12 bolt dropped right in, and it came with the 1350 yoke.

And, can we do $330 shipped?

Thank you.

EXACTLY what he asked plus - is cmoly as strong/stronger than 3.5 alum or steel shafts? Come with a 1350 trans yoke?

Ok guy's here are some answers.

We can do steel or chromemoly. The chrome moly will be lighter than the steel.
Our DS's do come with 1350 u-joints, Spicers.

The Chromemoly DS is stronger than your current factory aluminum shaft by far.

As how our shafts compare to Denny's, not sure. We have never used a Denny's shaft so I do not know their quality. I can say that we have never had a failure of one of our DS's. We sell right around 200 shafts a year, to give you a idea.

The shafts do come fully balanced. Ready to install.

If you guy's want to run a stock replacement shaft I will make it for you. I will tell you though that the right way to do it is to measure it from the trans seal to the u-joint center line. If you have a factory trans and a factory 10 bolt then you don't have to measure. It's up to you guy's though. It only takes 10 minutes to properly measure your car.

Let me know who's in, start placing the orders and we will get this moving.

Thanks

I'm in.

Chrome moly for me. How do you want me to confirm the order, cc#, paypal, call you, e-mail you, etc...?

And I will measure out my pole according to your directions, I will even have a second person with me to confirm the numbers.

Oh yeah, $330 shipped ok by you?
