I have a 200A alterstart alternator that I've been very happy with. I was looking to improve performance at idle for when I get stuck in traffic with wipers, lights, and A/C running (common in Florida rush hours - liquid sunshine dontcha know). Their 200A actually puts out more power at idle than their 235A alternator although not as much at higher speeds.

Ive been happy with my Powermaster 200amp #58203.and I have a +3000 watt system.

But mine wasn't completely plug n play, I had to clock the housing on mine for it to fit, and slightly bend a few powersteering rack lines out of the way.
Also you'll need a little adapter plug wire .
when checking specs remember that the alternators on average spin 3x faster than the engine .
So if you alt is rated at xxx amps at 6000rpm divide that # by 3 for your engine rpm.

Did you have to modify your bracket?

No, no modifications necessary. It just bolts right in although you can't reuse the alternator fan cover from the original alternator (it's not necessary so just leave it off).

Upgrading the big three is a good idea when installing a larger alternator. If you just want the increased idle output then it isn't necessary but if you're actually going to use the extra output power then upgrading the wiring is important.

but in ebay they say that the 235 gives out 120A at 800rpm and the 200A alt gives 110A at 800rpm

Thumbs up

The "Proof of Performance" card I got with my powermaster alt. is test rated at: 134amps at 800rpm(engine), and 250amps at 2000rpm(engine).
