Default all interior lighting is dead?

When i turn my headlights on all my interior lights stay off. the HU display dims to nothing and none of my gauges or buttons light up. If i click the dimmer up all the way the dome and mirror lights will come on but everything stays dim. Any ideas. I'm assuming its the fuse but i can't pull it till i get home on sat. If it was the fuse, wouldn't just the gauges be dark though?

oh ya, forgot about that......steering wheel controls have a seperate fuse for their lights. 2 fuses for steering wheel controls: 1 for the function and 1 for the lights. my mistake

Alright, sounds like its the fuse. I'll check it either tomorow if i can manage to get it out, or when i get home on sat. thanks for the help man.

Any reason why it would just randomly blow?

I had the same problem where all the lights went off in the cluster/radio. I checked the fuse but no dice. I figured out the problem was the orange wire that goes to the light switch was burned out. Changed it and never had the problem again. May not be your problem, just giving my .02

Try replacing it anyway, just because it looks okay doesn't always mean it is. Just some advice from my own personal experience.

i have an electrical problem too. my gauges dont light, and the stock radio LED goes out when i turn my headlights on. steering wheel controls still glow though and my interior lights work. if i replace the fuse it happens again in a few months and i just replace the fuse again. i dont see the point in spending $1k plus having someone look for the problem, or spending the time doing it myself.

^ mine was the dimer too. im no expert but i assume it the engine's grounding. that makes the most sense. if you can put the key in and turn to ignition without starting and it doesn't blow than it most be the engine itself sending a shock, you would think.

Checked under the dash, don't see any broken wires or uninsulated wires, the wires coming from the dimmer look like they work fine. Anybody got any ideas?

Maybe the dimmer itself might be bad...
