Default Dry rot speakers

My old Kenwood speakers have dry rotten. All 4 of them. They were installed back in 97 at Best Buy. They sound like crap now. Each of the four speakers has fell apart. I found a deal on some Rockford Fosgates 250 watt 6.5 inch 3 ways. I want to install them myself. I found that Best Buy did a very crappy job installing the front door ones. Is there a mounting kit for the door speakers?

What's the depth on those?

Also, 3-ways are crap, as is that brand....

Just stay away from best buy. The speakers are half the price on amazon anyways.

Seriously, do yourself a favor and stick to 2-ways (AKA coaxials) if you don't go for components. Forget 3/4/5/6/9000-way.

Thanks Dragon! I think I will. I have been hearing that 2-way are better than 3-way speakers. Why is that?

I like 3-way the most overall - when done right. In a car, the only way you can do it right is with a very high end component set. When you try to fit a midrange and a tweeter over a woofer, you end up with lots of problems. First of all, you end up blocking too much of the woofer area. Second of all, you don't have enough room for a proper midrange - a proper midrange, depending on the woofer and tweeter, will be around 3" in diameter. Third, on low-end speakers, you have really cheap crossovers whereas in 3-way speakers, you generally need quite complex crossovers to end up with good sound.

For those reasons, I recommend avoiding anything other than 2-ways in a car, be it coaxial or components.
