Default Powering amps

I got a couple dumb questions. I was originaly only going to run 1 300 watt amp and now i am running two, one that is 300 watts and one that is 500 watts. I originally ran a 4 gauge for the one amp.

Question 1: Is 4 gauge enough for 800 watts?

So I ran to 6th ave to get some bs stuff and when i went to get a distribution block the kid told me that since im spitting a 4 gauge that i need to use 8 gauge because of the resistance. Know i know that sometimes these guys are total idiots so ill ask here. I was going to run 4 gauge from the block to the amps only because i have a ton left over.

Question 2: Can I run 4 gauge into the dist. block and then 2 4 gauge wires to the amps from the dist. block?

Thanks

^^^^Agree with both. Generally a 2 amp install kit will have a 4 awg primary cable going to a distribution block and 8awg coming off of that. Going bigger using 4awg will not hurt anything but as stated since it's a shorter run it will not hurt to use 8.

Thanks for the help guys. Another quick question. i will be installing 3 agu fuses, 1 near the battery, one for a 300 watt amp, and one for a 500 watt amp (amps at 2 ohms if it makes a difference). Anyone know what sizes i need?
