Default What size speakers do T/A's use?

I'm wondering what size speakers I can fit in: Door panels, mids, and rear sets.

not sure what year yours is but mines a 94, they are prolly the same though. but the door is 5 1/4 the mids by the back seats are 6 1/2, and the rear sail panels are actually a 4x4 and a tweeter, but i cut them out and put a 4x6 in there.

The rears are that small?! I have a 96, I thought I would be able to get a 6x9 in there. Guess I was wrong, haha.

No oval speaker will ever sound as good as the equivalent round speaker because of the odd shape of the speaker cone. Plus, 6x9 speakers were the choice of the 8-track generation and haven't improved significantly since then. Many companies still make and sell them because they are a quick profit maker aimed at customers who aren't familiar with audio equipment and think bigger is better.

Besides, why would you want to put a large speaker in the hatch area anyway? Those speakers are there for rear fill only so you shouldn't need (or want) lots of sound coming from that far back in the car.

Everything is relative. If you have 6x9 oval speakers, it won't necessarily sound bad but an equivalent 6" round speaker would sound better. If all you want is "decent" sound, you can get that from an oval speaker. But why would you want to when you can get better sound from a round speaker with less modification of the mounting?

... Seriously? Are you trying to convince us that because you know nothing about audio, that crap "sounds good"? Maybe they sound good to you, but they do not sound good when followed by a period.

But anyway, just disconnect the rear speakers. They do nothing except cause phase issues.

That has nothing to do with sound quality. Too many of you on this board seem to think that loudness and quality are somehow related.
