Default Just got in my RE Audio SEX12D4, Pictures inside

This is one hell of a sexy subwoofer. It will be going into my GTO in a custom install next weekend but before it did I wanted to snap a few pics of it's naughty bits.

I have the full line of RE Audio Subs available so if you are interested in putting some serious sound pressure in your Camaro so the Mustangs will have a little music to cry to while getting stomped
, shoot me a PM and I'll get you a good deal on them.

It is hard to tell from the picture but this voice coil is HUGE

The sub is a monster but doesn't require a ton of airspace which is why I selected it for my GTO. I use the trunk a lot and a huge box just wasn't feasable. For these they run best from .65 -1.0 cu ft in a sealed enclosure.

This one?
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...hp?fit_id=1640

If so it uses 3 10" drivers. They don't publish the specs of the box but comparing speaker to speaker I don't beleive the 10" RE Audio speaker will fit. The RE audio speakers are a bit bigger. The mounting hole could always be opened wider so that isn't the issue but that box seems to go around the outside of the sub pretty close. The RE Audio 10" is 1/2" wider than the JL one.

Sorry man I am going nuts or something but I can't find any information on an enclosure like that from JL anywhere, just their stealthforms box which is a single sub enclosure.

Here are the size specs for the sub the main ones you want to pay attention to are mounting depth, Overall diameter, and mounting hole diameter. If the enclosure tapers inside then you will want Motor Width as well.

12"
Mounting Depth - 6.9"
Mounting Hole Diameter - 11.2"
Overall Diameter - 12.5"
Bolt Hole Circle - 11.75"
Motor Width - 7.3"
Motor Depth - 3.44"
Basket Depth - 3.46"
Displacement - 0.15 cu. ft.
Weight - 21.5 lbs.

Gotcha Ok Well comparing the 10W6V1 to the RE Audio, the RE sub is a lot bigger.

Mounting Depth - 6.4" JL is 4.875"
Mounting Hole Diameter - 9.3" JL is 9.125
Overall Diameter - 11" JL is 10.125
Bolt Hole Circle - 10.1"
Motor Width - 7.3"
Motor Depth - 3.4"
Basket Depth - 2.94"
Displacement - 0.14 cu. ft.
Weight - 21 lbs.

Those specs there in red are what you will need to measure for. Almost 2 inches in depth difference is a bit worrysome so you will definately want to check that out. The mounting hole circle can aways be widened. The only other thing that might cause a problem is the overall width, so as long as the speaker isn't recessed in the box you should be ok. If not there is the SRX series that is a bit smaller than these but still not as small as the JL.

For right now I only have a Rockford P300-1 amp to push a sub. Will this push this sub at all?

It will push it but it will be very underpowered. A better fit would be the SRX series. They max out at 300w @ 2 ohm. They don't thump as hard as the SEX series but are a better fit for your amp. If you want to look at replacing the amp to get something to better suit the SEX woofer I can help you out there. Here is a link to the SRX series on my store.

The only 8" that RE Audio makes is their REX series which in an entry level woofer. Keep in mind that entry level for RE audio is about midgrade for most other companies. They can take up to 175w RMS each and sound pretty good. If you are looking for something with a bit more punch and are open to adjusting your box to a square woofer I have the 8" Solo Baric L5 subwoofers. They take up to 300w RMS and can deliver very hard hitting bass for such a small woofer.
