Default Voltage Question

I recently replaced my alternator and battery about a week ago. The old alternator died. With this new one the voltage jumps halfway above the 13 mark when I start it, then climbs down to around the 13 mark. When driving during the daytime with no a/c or lights on the voltage stays around 13 volts occasionally dropping below the 13 mark.

Does this sound normal? I seem to remember when my old alternator was working it always stayed above the 13 mark unless I had the ac on, lights on, etc.

Thanks

Check your voltage at the battery with engine running and no electrical loads. Should be 13.2 vdc or better.
