Default 12v plugin/ashtray light

Alright well I have two questions. First off, my 12v plugin under the stereo doesn't work. How can I fix that? I've gone to a local auto parts store to buy a generic replacement but none of them fit. And secondly, when I got the car, I didn't know it had an ashtray light, but when I found out, I tried to replace the bulb, and it still doesn't work. Any detailed help would be greatly appreciated seeing as how I'm no good at wiring stuff. Thanks.

Have you checked your fuses?

Which fuses do I need to check? And how do I know if they're bad?

There are 2 fuses in the fuse block that you can access after you open your driver door that could be related here. One is labeled PWR ACCY and the other CIG ACCY. You can tell if they are blown by looking a the filament inside the fuse once it is pulled out. If the filament looks broken or burned, then it's bad.

Okay I will check it asap and post a response. My only problem is what's going to happen if it is not a fuse..

I bet the Cig plug is just a fuse, not sure on the ashtray light.

I don't believe they are on the same circuit, I'd still check those fuses.
