Default proform shift light

anybody out there knows about this hookup. i wired it up according to the instructions. red to switched 12 volts, black to ground, and green to tach signal ( pin # 48 brown wire with red stripe ) turn key on shift light lights up and goes into operating mode. set to 3,000 rpms for testing nothing. i have an 06 pontiac gto. it is presently on 8 cyl. setting, should it be on 4cyl. setting? these cars have 2 pulses per revolution. like a 4cyl. any advice would be appreciated.
