Can you identify this thing
This thing is part of the security system on my 02 z28. The car would not start, and i have a feeling this has to do with it. Does any know what it is, and who makes it. All it says on it is lectron

It's some sort of photocell is it not? I don't have the schematics in front of me, but I'm sure it may have something to do with powering the security light so it doesn't drain the battery.

Did you get that from the dash by the defroster vent (next to the alarm LED)? Hard to tell from those photos but it looks like it's the automatic headlight photo-sensor and is not related to the alarm and would not be the cause of the car not starting. It just tells the DRL module when it's dark enough to turn on the headlights.
