delco speaker plug
Bought a set of 6x9 speakers for 5 dollars at the swap meet a while back. Im installing them in my 97 taurus tomorrow but I can't figure out what the +(positive) or -(negative) terminals.
If the speakers are turned "landscape" side with the words on the back "right side up", there are two terminal plugs on opposite sides. A 4 ohms mark on the rear on the side (left) and 10 ohms on the other side (right).
Anybody know what the + and - terminals are?

Get yourself a "D" sized flashlight battery, and a couple of pieces of wire, about 3-4" long. Strip about 1/2" of insulation off both ends of the wire, and tape a piece of wire to each end of the battery.
Touch each end of the wire to a speaker terminal and watch if the speaker's cone extends of contracts. If the cone extends, when you touch the wire from the positive side of the battery to one of the terminals, THAT is the positive terminal of the speaker. If the cone contracts, when you touch the positive wire to the terminal, it's the negative terminal of the speaker.
