Default what causes Keyless remote to go bad?

yeah....what cause a remote to go bad?

I dont have the keyless start remote but i do have the door locks and trunk-alarm.

it stopped working and i wasted $4.50 on some batteries and it still didnt work.

so is there anything i can do to make sure it bad before i go waste money on a new one.

can i test something? reprogram it?

if its not the battery.....then what goes bad in it?

peace!

A local buddy said that he actually took his apart and cleaned the contacts and it works like brand new now. Gonna give mine a shot soon. Said before he would have to press real hard to get it to work.

Clean the contacts where the buttons push on to and wipe off the black dots on the back of the buttons (not with alcohol though, just a slightly damp paper towel at the most). I've found that they will gradually build up a black residue on them and not work right.
