Default Cleaning your factory CD player - 99 Camaro??

Mine is rejecting CDs with more regularity recently.

I'm fairly sure it is a dirty digital reader (head).

Are there any tips on how to best clean these? What kits are best? What is to me avoided?

thx...

I tried compressed air and it does not work.

When the CD is inserted, I get an "ERR" message on the dash and the CD pops out of the dash.

I would rather not pull the unit out of the dash.....is there some other way to clean the lens?

There must be a cleaner that uses alcohal and which does not require removing the deck from the dash; right?

Have you checked the error number against the list in the Monsoon FAQ sticky? Some errors are unrelated to the laser focus so cleaning would do no good.

There are cleaning discs available. You put fluid on them and then insert them into the drive to clean the head.

...thanks,,,

there are no error codes on the dash ... the dash just says "ERR" and the disk pops out and does not play.

I once ages ago had trouble with the stock CD player in the Tahoe I used to own and I got one of those CD lens cleaner that was basicaly a blank CD with a small strip of brushes in the middle of the disc, you just stick it in like a cd and it spins and brushes of the lens, it worked great for my problem.

I bought a cleaning CD that has a tiny brush glued onto the disk.. This worked great and the factory CD player works like the day it was born...
