Does anyone sell the PIE GM9-AUX anymore?
Greetings,
I am trying to install an aux input to my 2002 SS as painlessly as possible. I mistakenly picked up the PAC AAI-GM9 kit on eBay and installed it to no avail, since apparently it requires the CD changer to work (which I don't have). Does anyone know where I can find the PIE standalone product? I tried the usual Amazon/eBay with no luck.

Another option is the USA-SPEC PA11-GM45, especially if you're an Apple fan (iPod, iPhone). It is designed primarily as an iPod integrator for the factory head unit but also provides left and right RCA jacks for auxiliary input. It is about $25 more expensive than the GM9-AUX was ($106 on Amazon) but it is still readily available.

I've got an Aai-gm9 that I mistakenly got for my HU that does not have an external slave unit and does not work without one. I'd be interested in trading you if you're still up for it?

I just wanted to thank WhiteBird00 for the suggestion on the USA-SPEC. I have a PIE GM9-AUX installed in my Camaro, and wanted to install one in my 2001 Silverado. Since I couldn't find any, I looked on Ebay for the USA-SPEC and got a brand new one for $45. Installed it tonight, and it works perfect. I had to flip one of the DIP switches to use the RCA inputs, but otherwise it works just like the old PIE unit.

Sorry to dig up an old thread. But I have a 02 monsoon without the cd changer. This looks like it should work but I just want to make sure

I just bought a AAI-GM9 like a dummie so I want to be sure before I waste anymore money on this. I wish I didn't have the button on the steering wheel or id just get an aftermarket. Hate the thought of buttons that don't work.

Yes, that adapter should work according to the description but the line on the summary page that says "PAC version will ship" concerns me. You might want to post your question on their page.
You don't have to give up steering wheel controls when installing an aftermarket head unit. Almost all head units over the last several years have a steering wheel control port for connecting an adapter so that your buttons will work. And there are universal adapters for those few head units that don't have the wired connection but do have an infrared remote.

Well that changes things. Any idea what that option on the aftermarket HU might be called that allows aftermarket HU to accept the steering wheel controls? I'd rather do that. Thanks for that info

Various manufacturers and suppliers use different terminology but they are fairly consistent. Kenwood calls it "OEM Remote Interface", Pioneer calls it "wired remote", Crutchfield has a line item in the option details list called "Steering Wheel Control Compatible".
Stick to the major brands (Pioneer, Kenwood, Sony, JVC, Alpine, etc.) and you shouldn't have any problem. Avoid the cheap stuff like Boss, Dual, Pyle, and the no-name Chinese brands.
