Default Double DIN Pioneer MVH-1400 NEX, Carbon Fiber Wrapped Bezel in Trans Am

Guys,

Just wanted to show you my recent install of a Pioneer MVH-1400 NEX (318.15 shipped) in my Trans Am. Install was really straight forward, with the only modification being the removal of some plastic below the factory monsoon head unit. The bezel is actually from Amazon and came with a wiring harness and antenna adapter ($42.00 shipped), which I chose over the Metra because it had softer lines that I knew would be easier to wrap with the Carbon Fiber Vinyl (3M 1080). Eventually I'll likely add a backup camera and steering wheel control integration, but for the time being I'm really enjoying the upgrade and the Apple Car Play! Let me know what you guys think!

Looks nice, good work!

I'm going to try and fit in a 7" touch screen with Android auto running off of a raspberry pi.

I'm curious how it will fit and look after, this gives me a good idea though with your screen being 6.2".

I also need to figure out a way to eliminate my current head unit and run all of the stereo controls off of the raspberry pi but haven't found anything for that yet.

LEt us know how the camera install goes!

Very clean install! It's great to see guys bringing these cars up to date in the "infotainment" category.

Agreed! Truthfully I don't listen to much music when I drive this car, mostly because the windows are down and I'm listening to the car itself. Maybe having this new unit will change that! If nothing else - at least it greatly updated the looks for a relatively low cost.

Agree, I don't either, because most of my drives in Wichita KS are 5-10 minutes and don't allow for getting into the tunes. A 20 minute drive from the east side where I live to the west side is a long drive here, lol.

But what would be nice is the hands-free, bluetooth, voice to text, etc.

Add a backup camera! Best $12 I spent! I picked one up like this off eBay for less than $12. It mounts behind the tag and just the camera peaks over the top of the tag. Very stealthy, but VERY nice feature to add that updates our 4th Gens with back up cameras!

That looks good. I am planning to upgrade mine to a Pioneer or Kenwood double-DIN for Android Auto and backup camera, eventually. I already have a Kenwood X998 so that will probably be the last part of the stereo that I do.

Nice job on the wrap, I tried the same thing with the Metra bezel and it looks terrible on all edges, inside and out. Wish I had seen this post a few weeks ago. I just added an ATOTO A6 Pro 10.1" with dash cam, reverse cam, wifi and gps. Still trying to figure it all out but I love having that big screen.

Be careful with the install man, mine came with a different set of wires than advertised and incorrect instructions. It took a lot of "figurin out"!

Band director. I bought a similar one but it had the clip on mirror monitor. Mine also came with a different set of wires than advertised and the wrong instructions. It took a little "figurin out" but I managed to get it going.

Is car launcher AGAMA like torque? Not really sure, first car I have had a screen with any type of interactive OS. You’re right though, definitely can’t go back to small HU.

Got it. So launchers in Android (for phones or tablets ) change the look and style of your tablet interface. Your Atoto came with the launcher created by Atoto. But you can go to Play store and download others. You can either just run the launcher like an application or set it as the default one your device uses when it starts. You would go into settings - default apps - Home app to do this.

Agama is a launcher designed specifically for cars and so far I'm loving it. Plenty of vids on youtube for how to setup. https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ncher&hl=en_US
