Isimple aux input in 02 Camaro SS
I'm looking into installing an auxiliary port in my 2002 Camaro SS. I want to leave the stock radio as stock as possible. I recently upgraded all the speakers as well.
I found the following kit on Ebay and after researching all the articles on this site it seems like it'll be the best idea.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Auxiliary-audio-input-adapter-for-95-GM-radio-Add-aux-iPod-Android-mp3-DVD/37
My only concern is that my car didn't come with a factory external CD player. My car is loaded with every option other then the external CD player and traction control. I'm guessing my stereo would have the connection for the CD player and thus this device should work. Any advice would be appreciated.
Are there any companies that install the 3.5 audio jack into the radio if you send the factory one out?
Thanks again!

If thats the one I think it is (links dead), you are referring to the iSimple PXDX. I got tired of the Pioneer deck I put in my car so I ordered one last week. The PXDX apparently mimics the CD changer. I found a lot of Vette guys that use it and say it works really well. Im gonna try and install mine this weekend if it ever stops raining.

@99Silver6.0 Where did you end up buying this from? Where is your AUX jack input run to?

Thanks, this might be a dumb question but do your steering wheel controls still work with this item? I wouldn't expect the SEEK to work but at least VOLUME and MUTE.

Sonic Electronics is NOT a good place to buy if you want a warranty. They sell grey-market products (designated for a different market than the US) and are not authorized dealers. In fact, both Pioneer and Kenwood specifically mention Sonic purchases as being unwarrantable on their warranty policy pages. Other brands have similar rules.

Necroing an old thread so I don't create a new one, but I'm wondering if the stock radio's all have the port, would this kit work?

While I could purchase another monsoon radio and not alter my stock unit, plug and play is by far an easier option if available.

Yes and no. That adapter doesn't plug into the back of the radio as most others do. It plugs into the 10-pin port on the back of the factory 6 or 12 disc remote CD player. You must have a functioning factory remote disc changer in the hatch cubby in order for it to work. That eliminates any worries about head unit compatibility because if you have a factory changer then your head unit is compatible.
Yes, all Monsoon head units have the 9-pin CD changer port and also have the harness pre-installed going to the hatch area where the changer would be installed, but the changer itself was optional equipment and this adapter cable depends on it being there. Basically, it provides a stereo mini-jack which replaces the CD changer audio output when something is plugged into it... much like a headphone jack interrupts speaker output on most devices.

In modern times, has a newer adapter that works with a non remote cd player been made? A lot of the brands mentioned on the board in days past no longer are manufactured and appear quite difficult to find second hand.
Naturally I could purchase an aftermarket Alpine / Kenwood single DIN, but my car is fairly unmolested on the interior and I'd like to keep the stock look. Alternatively, I suppose I could purchase the CD changer if the wiring pre-exists, then install the adapter?

Purchased one of these years back on eBay and it continues to work flawless today. You do NOT need a CD changer for it to operate.

Granted this only solves for iDevice folks, but the cord can be adapted from 30-pin to Lightning. Charging does not operate but steering wheel controls work as expected. There is also a Bluetooth adapter https://www.usaspec.com/p-365-bt45-aux.aspx that used to be available and perhaps that could solve for devices beyond Apple.

I want to keep my original monsoon cd stereo in my 97 Firehawk but want to know if there are active solutions to get bluetooth compatibility added to it.
I see some GM delco stereos on ebay etc that show they have been modified to have bluetooth compatibly (while still looking stock) but would like to know if there is anyone they can do this for those who currently have their original stereos.
It sucks the parts mentioned above are all out of stock...
