Default Replacing DTRL socket

Hey guys, I posted awhile ago about my DTRL not functioning correctly. Well, I'm pretty sure it's the socket. If I stick paperclips into the socket around the bulb it seems to work (jerry-rigged I know). I guess the socket warped or something to that effect. To install a new socket, can I just snip the wires and splice them with the wires on the new socket (much like installing a head unit)? Besides a junk yard, is there a place online to order a new one? Do any other GM vehicles share the same socket? Thank you very much for your help.

Most sockets are a GM sourced part so a dealer is the only place to purchase one. You may go to a junkyard and hunt one down and if there are no Trans Ams check for other Pontiacs (Sunfire, Bonneville, etc)
