Unhappy battery problem

I live in chicago. the temp is right above freezing but no snow. i filled my trans am a4 with gas a few days ago and drove it home and havent used it in 4 days. i tried to start it today and it wouldnt start. i then jumped it and when it started the idle wascrazy and was up around 3000 and jumping up and down. i then gave it soem gas and it went even higher in the rmp range and take a few secs to coem down. i know my battery died and its an old battery but does any1 else have any ideas of what to do?

replace the battery and give your PCM time to relearn the idle

If it was not surging before then i would say unplug the battery long enough for the pcm to lose its ltrims. (about 5-10 minutes) and then reconnect the battery and let the car go thought a idle relearn.

If it was doing it before, you have a leak somewhere between the tb and the intake. If thats the case i would start by making sure the intake screws were tight.
