Default OMG the horn is a wuse, help

Well, this came a a surprise last night. Some yahoo pulls out in front of me doing all of 12MPH in a 55 , so i hit the horn.

<peeeeeep>

What was that? Ummmmmm. My Z28 had a loud commanding horn, stock. My 00 SS has a Peizo buzzer for a horn apparently

So, what horns sound good? I saw a guy bridge 3 normal horns and 1 jeep horn. Ive seen trucker horns, and I knew a trucker who put a diesel train horn on. I am jus tlooking for something plenty loud, and deepish (to match the SS). Any ideas? Links?

Thanks

My TA horn isn't bad. Maybe listen to one of them and see if that's more your style and replace yours with one of those?

Yeah, but what if i get another piezo model from a bird? :X
Need to put an ad in the wanted section :
WANTED : FBody Horn, must be the masculine one, not the de-sexed version.
Thanks for the idea.

The reason it sounds like crap is because one of the horns is dead. There are two up under there somewhere, and one must have stopped working. When I first bought my 02 Z last year the horn was twice as loud, if not more, than my brothers 98. I thought maybe it was just because it was a newer car. Low and behold one day during the summer I hit the horn when a jack *** pulled in front of me. For a second it was good, then it went to sounding like crap. More than likely one of the horns just broke, so if you find out which one it is and replace it with a stock one, you will sound just as good as your Z did.

Fry, thank you for that info. I would be happy if it sounded like my Z28 did, as it is when you arm the alarm it goes <peep peep> , makes people look at it for the wrong reason.

Anyone have a spare horn for sale?

Cheers

Mine did the same exact thing like 2 days ago, thought it had something to do with it getting real cold all of the sudden, but guess not. Why the two horns? Wouldnt one big one be cheaper?

One of the GTO board guys got some air horns from a '73 Grand Prix and put on his car. Apparently it's really f'n loud.

Cars have two horns for the two pitches you hear. They're at an angle where water can get in them easily and ruin them. When I replaced mine I angled them down a little to keep water out.

Thank you all for the responses. I'm going to have to go to a used car lot and tell them something like "I want a car with a real good horn that says "Get the ^##*$ out of the way" when pushed, and sample a few.

In an A4 the equates to either rear ending him instantly , or having to shift into neutral and back

I only had it happen once in the Z28 I had, shifted into (D) with the motor coming down from a rev ( i think it was at 2k or so) at a stop, neat little power chirp but not good on the A4 .

screw that, $50 for a GM horn, all it is is a small piece of plastic.... and some other crap... i would rather put a beefier horn in that will have a better chance against the elements....
