viper, and no bypass needed, just test the resistance on your key and go get a resistor to put on the orange/black wire in your steering column. (check on the color as its been a while)

Go DEI all the way so Viper 791 or Hornet 2way. So the hornet is the same 2way but has time/alarm/and interor temp. for $40 cheaper. DEI also has a lifetime warranty so get one on E-bay for $200 and $170 on the hornet.
DO NOT cut the bypass wire and put resistors in as then anyone with a screwdriver can start your car! Unless you hook up the starter kill. But still that is getto. Get the DEI learnable bypass. Oh and a 5wire for the door locks on the BCM passenger side under glovebox.

Not 50 but $30 and I wouldn't hook up the starter kill but the clutch wire (if it is a M6) Anyone with a little knowledge on alarms and starters can steal a car 100X easyer with a colored installed diagram in the car! And if the key resistance is already bybassed all the time for them a screw driver and one wire and BYE BYE.
Your car do what you want. But there is a right way and a wrong way to do every thing!

me and a buddy of mine both have a two way alarm(he has the viper and i have the clifford) its been wired up so that we can remote start them but when the car is not remote started you have to have the right key. the system only bypasses during remote start. if you do it right you wont have any problems

The Viper 791XV is the best 2-way on the market. I have that in my 05 Cavalier (winter car). I put the Viper 650XV in the WS6. Just wanted a good alarm w/prox sensor (508D) and window rollup (530T).

I don't have the info on hand it is in my box at work, But I know DEI makes one. And word from the wise, as cool as all that extra crap sounds don't do it window are a pain in the *** on or cars and not good for are weak motors! As for the prox sensor I would get it but only hook up the 1stage.
To say the 791xv is the best is close to true but not realy, as I said the honet 2way is the very same thing but has clock, alarmclock, and car temp built in for $40 cheaper (at cost).
Any alarm is only as good as the install. More so on a ALARM as it needs to be not seen! I took my Escalade in for work at the dealer they removed the under dash area and never knew it had anything on it!
My camaro has the 791xv with GPS, prox sensor, and pizzo sirens. Ready to go in! And I do my own installs. best way to know the job is perfect! Oh and I removed my dash for the install.

The car is a VATS system a relay and resistor will be needed to retain it's functionality but yet remote start. And that is the "right " way to do it.The other modules aer for PASSKEY I & II which the F_bodies NEVER had.The DEI is vastly superior to anything Audiovox has. As for the proximity sensor, do both fields but instal toggle switches on both inner and outer ouputs so you can turn them off .Comes in handy if it's raining hard outside. Find a nifty place to hide'em (under the ashtray makes a great"James Bond" stealth mod) and you're set.

Prox. Sensor
Right, so I've been following this thread and think you boys could help me out. I'm using the Python 680XP on my '99 WS6 and would like to install a prox. sensor. Is it an easy install or am I going to want a pro to do it up for me. If I can do it myself a little instruction would be helpful. Thanks.

there is not bypass for camaro/firebird, it is a VATS pack, 652t. Do not use audiovox they are junk!!!!! go dei all the way.
as for the warranty, they have a lifetime warranty, if installed by an authorzied dealer. if you buy it on ebay, you have no warranty
the 791 includes the 5 wire relay. you should also get a back-up battery, and some mini piezo alarms, and a mercury tilt switch, or another hood pin (1 for hood, 1 for hatch) you may also thing about gettting the trunk pop solenoid from dei
as for the install, if you never installed an alarm before, good luck, i have the wiring diargams for you if you would like them, pm me.

Did a search on ebay with no results. I also did a search on ebay for GM VATS bypass and came up with this:
Ebay GM VATS bypass
Is this what I need? I thought we had the passlock II?
I am planning on going dei all the way.

The hornet is the 554T.
As for the trunk pop nothing extra is needed as it is a electric pop already! And there is also a factory trunk pin (orange/black + blue plug at the BCM on a 2001 camaro).
I wouldn't wast time and money on extra mercury switch the shock and prox sensor will cover that fine. the pizzos are painfull that is why they call them pain generators. I have 2 inside the car.

steven,
the 652t is just a resistor back, it has all the resistence values for the passlock . you do not need it, you could go to radio shack and buy resistors.
I just pmed you the wiring, you will still need to double check with your DMM
