Been using the BelPro RX65 for over a year now. Good range and very quiet, except for when it is needed. Usually the rx65, escort, and valentine are the top three compared in the top end market.

The Valentine 1 is definitely the best but costs a bundle. I've had a Cobra XR1010 for 3 and a half years now and I haven't gotten pulled over with it yet. I paid $140 for it back then.

VG-2 is a radar detector, Detector. Basically the cops have a detector that detect radar dectector (in states where it is illegal to have radar detectors.) VG-2 mode turns off the internal chip so they cannot detect it. (Standby) While this chip is on standby your no longer scanning radar. So if they turn the VG-2 on and clock for speed your not going to know about it.

I've owned many other detectors and will stand by the V1. I tested a couple recently while looking to get one in my Envoy (to include the Bel RX65 and Escort X50) and I while I thought the other two did well (but not necessarily better than the V1), I couldn't get past the fact that I couldn't tell where the source of radar was coming from or how many sources there were.
Plus, I don't know how Valentine does it, but a V1 cannot be picked up by a radar detector detector. They make no mention of it on their website either. I called and talked with one of their engineers and they won't say how they do it. However, she did say that a V1 will not be detected until it's within roughly three feet of a detector detector. Since I live in VA, that's a big selling point with me.
I'll admit I'm a V1 ... but there's a reason for it.

Which in this case is a crock. But... Valentine is a business man too and if he can offer what the public wants (whether they know what they're talking about or not) why not? Why hurt sales if you offer it and get more sales.

Regardless of the fact of knowing where their location is you still have to slow down. They performed the same in my opinion but while switching I lost the bridged ability or the laser shifter. I can run it standalone but its much cooler connected to the 8500.
Its all about personal preferance because every test I have read ranks the v1 and 8500 pretty damn near even.

I recently bought a detector. I read up on everything and did my homework. Top three in most tests are the V1, passport X50, and the bel rx65. On radartest.com the bel rx65 won the runoff so that's the one i bought. I get my car back from GMR next week (twin turbo) and figure I might need it. Can't say how well it works because I haven't used it yet...

Actually if you refer to my link, the V1 was detected with at least one kind of radar "detector"
Also - I posted that link because there are documented testing sites in that thread where the V1 comes in second to the X50.
Any of the top 5 can track multiple signals at the same time.
Having arrows is just a gimmick....all u need to know is that you should slow down.

You must have an X50 to be sooooo biased about this. I have both the X50 and V1, and I will chose the V1 anyday over the X50. I even bought another V1 to REPLACE the X50 in my SS.
I have a nice pic of my X50 used in its best way:
It makes a great wheel chock!
Peace,
Craig.

That link is garbage! 7+ pages of banter?! "If" there is some useful info just post it here, I am not wasting my time reading through 7+ pages.
The other ones may track more then one like the V1 does, BUT they will not DISPLAY how many of them are out there. AND the arrows do help. The X50 on expert mode tracks a whopping 3.....wow!

Actually Craig, I don't own a radar detector. YET!
I've been using my uncles V1 for 3 weeks now, and am unimpressed w/ all the "features' on top of how ugly the thing is.
And when you sayin the X50 only tracks 3.....and you make that seem like a short coming.
Um, how many radar/laser guns are u expecting to run into?
Im just sick of people saying "V1 BECAUSE OF THE ARROWS"
Guess what buddy, If the radar is coming from the side (which the v1 doesnt tell u WHICH side) Im gonna slow down, and if it's coming from behind, Well IM GONNA SLOW DOWN, and if its from the front, YOU GUESSED IT im gonna slow down.
So I just dont take the BS about the arrows being the best thing, the arrows are useless.
