check gauges light???

Check Engine Light, aka SES, is working on my car. Can't remember which pin but the light is ground activated. The harness is ground, connect the other end to IGN 12V.

If using a normal bulb simply connect the wires.

If using LED connect harness wire as ground, then red wire to IGN 12V (reverse of other connections like turn signals). Be aware, the LED stays dimly lit when a normal bulb will be OFF. Nothing to worry about as the LED will be very bright when ON so there won't be any confusion.

I already have the check engine light wired up, but the LS1 gauge cluster also has a check gauges light for when a gauge goes to an extreme, (low gas, high temp, low pressure, low voltage) and I know it's signaled from the serial data wire on the 99-02 clusters, but I was hoping I could get that light to work on my after market cluster I made

This was from a thread about 10 years old, but that's the ohm readings you need for your gauge to read right at full and empty. Also a lead on a possible source for one. To hook up to it you need get a hold of a wiring diagram for your fuel level sender and see where you can get the signal wires from and then wire them in appropriately into your gauge.

Power to power, ground to fuel level signal.
Fuel level reads resistance from the float.

IIRC the 98s have a traditional GM 0-90 ohm so pretty much anything stated for Chevy should work fine.

The correct wire was purple on my 02, that wire should run from bulkhead behind rear seats along driver side up and behind the dash back to the PCM. I cut and used the OEM wire somewhere near the fuse panel.

Well there ya go, and Chevy is pretty sweet about using the same wires for ever, my 95 was also purple I believe.
