Default GTO stereo not cutting it

Hey guys, I just got an 06 GTO and I'm sorta disappointed with the stereo. I'm not much of a techno guy when it comes to car stereo. The stereo has a good sound but once the volume gets high it doesn't sound very clear and the bass is really bad when loud. What can I do to get a clearer louder system with cleaner bass? I dont want to have a box for subs in the trunk however. Thanks for the help!

If the head unit is anything like the one with Monsoon System in the Later F-bodies, you are likely going to have to live with either having your music "LOUD" or "CLEAN". You are just not going to get both at the same time.

i had an 01 SS and you're right, the stock head unit sucked. My buddy has an 03 Z06, is there any difference between the systems? The head units are identical from what I can see, but I know it has bose speakers. His system is amazing, its loud and clear, is it just because the speakers? T

if you want loud and clear i would do away with all the factory stuff, get a new deck new speakers and a four channel amp for your speakers it would be tons better but its not very cheap unless you do it you self

yeah goto ls1gto.com
you can adjust the subwoofer amp in the trunk, and play with the stock headunits EQ to get some better sound. I replaced the stock headunit with a kenwood, and I got speakers for the front, just havent put em in yet
