Default Traction control question...

I hate that "Traction Control Off" idiot light in my gauge pod.
Would I cause any kind of malfunction or set any codes if I removed the bulb?
I have heard of guys putting electrical tape over the bulb housing under the gauge face, but it seems to me that this might retain alot of heat and melt something or maybe even be a fire hazard.
Any suggestions/comments?
Thanks
Dave

The button for the TCS also has a light to indicate when it's on or off <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

You will not tell if the traction control is on or off. I guess the only thing you could do is remember every time you turn the car on the traction control also is on.

just disable the dash light and keep the bulb on the tcs button that way you know if it's on/off
