Anyone have any luck pulling power cable through the firewall?
I ran all my RCA, speaker, remote turn-on and 8 AWG power cable up to the kickpanels and was wondering where is the best place to run this bad boy.

I'm not positive on this one but I think if you take the 2 bolts out of the computer there is a rubber gromet you might fit an 8ga through.. I ran a 4 and put a hole in the firewall to do it. I don't know if an 8 will fit there, but I know people have stuffed a good amount of wire through there..

Yeah, what he said. Take out the two bolts that hold the PCM in place, yank the PCM out, and there is a big hole in the firewall. I've run several gauge sending wires as well as 0 gauge wire through it without issue.

Take those two bolts out and then it's easiest if you take the bracket that holds the pcm out also (1 or 2 bolts). The grommet is maybe 10"s below that.

Pay attention to how the pcm/bracket slides out on your car. If not, you'll be wondering how in the heck it came out of that cramped space when you go to put it back in. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

I'm running a 2awg through there with room to spare so you shouldn't have any problems. I was still a little worried that it might rub a hole in the power cord over time if it touched metal so I checked to see where on the cord it went through and then wrapped about a foot of it with duct tape. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I ran a 4 gauge power wire through the same hole everyone else is mentioning.

Yep just 2 days ago I took my computer out to run some wire though their. It works great; I had to use some force to get the computer it in and out, but not a ton to damage anything.

I pulled the PCM to the side and got the cable through.

Where is the PCM and WHAT does it look like? I have a 95' Camaro.

if you open your hood, the PCM will be on the passenger side of the car just below the windshield. its a silver rectangular box with "fins" on it. any other questions, PM me and i can probably take a picture of mine for you.

I may be wrong on this, but I've been told that grommet was supposed to be empty, but it was FILLED in my '96 convertible. I couldn't fit a wire through it and had to drill another hole.

like stated previously that gromment under pcm is where to run power cable. BUT within the last year or two iwas having a water prob. inside the car puddle in pass side rear floor.. thought it was a seal around the door since i found a loose screw.. come to find out water was findind its way down that side to the power wire into the vehicle. so recently i took a whole tube of silicone to both sides to seal it.. hope it holds.. finding a new groomet was not succsesful even though i only looked at homed depot.

Also, it's a good idea to put a little "dip" in whatever wire you push through just outside the grommet. The idea is that the wire should be going into the grommet upward so that it won't be a path for water to run down.

i ran mine through the PCM grommet hole without removing PCM. its a bit trickier but it is doable for those who do not want to remove PCM

I was able to run through the PCM hole without removing the PCM too (this was for my front stage amp). You can also try drilling a hole through the big plastic piece on the driver side (please be careful if you go this route as I took out several wires with the drill when doing this to fit my 8ga wire for the subwoofer amp, and had to get it towed to an electrical shop to repair the damaged wires!)

good idea but with the issue i had i just elimated the water coming in period..
