Default A4: how do I wire up my line lock to the "Skip Shift" light on the dash ?

I have an 00 A4.
I just noticed the "Skip shift" on my dash in the right corner.
Since I have an auto this light never is used but is there, how do I wire my line lock master on/ off switch to trigger this "Skip shift" light?

Any links to anyone who has done this?

Should be as easy as applying 12V from the switch to the correct wire in the harness going to the gauge cluster. I do not know which pin/wire it is, but that should be how it works if you can get a pinout/diagram.

I was going to get power for the line lock from the cigarette lighter.
Would this be 12v? If so would I tap after the master into the solenoid and the send it to the "Shift light" or would sending it to two diferent sources not provide enough volts to the line lock solenoid.

if your going to send voltage to the bulb, make sure to diode isolate it so that it doesnt run back into the pcm.

if you are asking if the cig lighter is 12v then maybe you should avoid ripping apart your wire harness...but if you think you can handle it like they said its a matter of finding what wire in the harness goes to the skip light then run a wire to it. Here is my question. why do you need a light to tell you if your line lock is on? If your finger is on the button the line lock is on, if your finger is off the button it is off, right? Not trying to sound like an ******* just making sure your not ripping the car apart to mess things up a little more

Sounds like he's not putting a momentary on, so he won't be track legal (or safe!). Was going to mention this but figured he knew the risks of having a standard push/pull press-on/press-off switch.

Agreed...a light should be unnecessary if the line lock is properly installed.

In any case, you can't use the skip shift light because it is a class 2 serial data controlled light. In other words, unless you want to cut the tracings on the printed circuit board, there are no power and ground wires you can use to activate the bulb.

Just wanted to use the "Skip Shift" as an alert when the master is on. After the master, I have a momentary on/ off.
