Default 97 WS6 panic oddity

No key FOB, going to get one here in the near future, but occasionally when you open or close either of the doors the panic will go off till you put the key in and even just move it to start. Not a big issue, not like the car won't start, just sorta annoying. Any idea?

That is normal function when the car's content theft deterrent system (alarm) is set. I'm sure you'll find that the common factor is that you locked the car using the inside switches on those times that the alarm sounds (locking with the key doesn't activate the alarm system). Unlocking doors with the key doesn't deactivate the system which is why the alarm sounds until you turn the key in the ignition.

Anyway to turn it off? You're exactly right, if you open the door and leave it open for X number of seconds the panic goes off. There's no key FOB, owner didn't get any from the previous owner. Be better to get a key FOB or is there a way to disable it?

You can do either one. Key fobs are available fairly cheap on eBay and they are easy to program to match the car. Or you can turn off the alarm system using the instructions in this post.

You are the man! I'll probably just order me a FOB, found a place with em for $35, will look on ebay too, but I'm going to turn it off for the time being.
