Default Sat Nav - Install under passenger seat

Hi,

I'm looking to reposition my Pioneer Avic (X1/N1) sat nav system's hideaway "brain" unit and gps antenna, as it is not working correctly right now. My problem is I don't know where is the best place to put the unit, in my 2000 Camaro SS

If you have a similiar sat nav - where did you put your hideaway unit?

Also, in general, if I was to place the small hideaway unit under the passenger seat, how would I secure it? Is it safe to screw it to the floor under the seat, or do you actually mount it upside down, on the underneath of the seat itself?

Cheers for the help,

How big is it and how long are the wires?

I mounted my satellite radio transceiver on the back of the spare tire panel:

If its small enough, you might be able to mount it behind the glove box or behind the right side of the radio bump-out on the dash.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions - Im going to try and put the unit in the trunk, the only problem is the unit must be horizontal and face forward, as it houses the gyro in it. The unit is small though, 18 x 3 x 14 cm.

Did you screw your radio transceiver down, or did you use velcro etc?

Thanks again,

In that case, you can't mount it where I mounted my XM transceiver, but you can mount it in the driver's side cubby-hole where the stock CD-Changer would go.
