Default Using 6 1/2'' speakers

I know that a lot of people use the 6 1/2'' speakers in the door and the hole is 6 3/4''. Do i need to do anything special or will it just work?

Looking at alpine type-s 2 way's in particular.

you will be happier with components in the doors.
i just changed out my alpine sps-170a for a cheap set of
speakers that are component type and they sound way better.
IMO
my alpines where 6.5" and they fit fine though.

firebirds and camaros have components in the doors.
firebirds are real components and camaros are like 2 ways but wired separately.

less expensive components will work off deck power, like the alpine s-type components, or infinity reference series. if you go much better in quality then youll need an amp.

The hole is not 6 3/4". The size of a speaker is the outer diameter of that speaker. Speakers of the same rated size can very in hole size required by around 1/2" (probably 1/4" or so for small speakers)

Since you have a Firebird/Trans Am you'll want components not coaxials. The wattage of your new HU really isn't going to make that much difference if your running through the stock amp or any amp for the most part.
