Default Bought an ISimple for my Camaro

Just bought an Isimple for my Camaro to use an ipod in my car. I don't even have an ipod yet, and the front says it works on the new ipods. Is the adapter for new ipods the same as the last generation? I wanted to purchase a cheaper used ipod from last gen to use, but now I don't know if I can't.

ISimple's website sucks *** and is of no help what so ever.

also, how easy is this install?

Thanks

I have both the new 80 GB "classic" and two older 80 GB Videos, they all work the same on my other cars decks that have an ipod interface and have the same connector, so I would think it would work with an older one.

Regarding install.... have no idea, I did the tap into the cd input interface mod to use an ipod on my monsoon unit.

My first question would have been "is it compatible with my car?" The website only lists recent model (2003 and newer) GM vehicles and it says that a Band or XM button and satellite radio compatibility are required

Even standard auxiliary adapters, like the GM9-AUX, that plug into the CD changer port on factory systems only work on cassette head units or CD head units from 2000 and newer models. You didn't mention what year Camaro you have.

I have a 2000 z28 convertible and no cd changer so i should be fine.

yes, on their website they only show the new part # for the product they are selling. I bought one from a local Fry's Electronics for 99.99 that was previously sold at Best Buy (now discontinued) that is verified to work with the car.

Do your adapters connect using the Ipod connector or just generically through the stereo jack?

I didn't have any problems with it in my 01 TA. It only took about 1/2 hour to install. I'm very happy with it. In fact, I bought another one for my 06 Silverado (that one took longer to install, though. Install is different for certain verhicles).

Awesome! Which Ipod are you using with yours? The only real concern here is on the front cover on the box of the one I have is it states it works with Gen 3 Nano's and Ipod touch, and Ipod classic, all of which are the brand new models. I have never owned an Ipod before so I don't know if the old connectors will work as well.

I think the adapters are the same for the new and older ipods. Mine is a couple years old, the ipod video. I bought the isimple last year. If you aren't sure, email peripheral electronics and ask them. If I remember right, they were very good about getting back to me about questions.
