Took out a Z28 lastnight...

Took out a Z28 lastnight... Got 3 runs with a white ls1 Z28.
My mods: FTRA, stock "blackwing" slp lid, stock cme exhaust
Z28 mods: seemed stock w/ maybe an exhaust (tips looked like those from SLP but really wasnt a very loud exhaust. So im not to sure)
1st run: He threw me a rev as i passed by him, so we began to slow down and stopped the car's. As we did that, i was ahead by my entire front bumper. I waited for him to edge up, but he didnt bother and began revvin up the car & started the honking? I was like ok, maybe he's got something idk about. So i went with it...we hit it, i hit it enough to get the car going, then put the pedal to the floor and pulled on him pretty hard. I got about a car length on him before i shut it back down at around 80. He didnt get to good of a start either...
2nd run: Best run, we lined up exactly the same as the 1st and i waited yet again and he did the same. I even got ready to pop it into Reverse and line up with him but as i put it in Neutral, he began honking. So quickly popped it back into Drive and waited for that 3rd honk. We hit it and this time i gave him the jump and he pulled out ahead, by his full car length and i did the same as in the 1st run. Ended up pulling him back in and passing by him, got up to about 80 to maybe 90 before we shut em down. I had atleast half a car length on him this time.
3rd run: We finally lined up next to eachother. He began the honks, did the 1st 2. Paused, revved the car and did the 3rd?? lol I accidently let off and edged up a bit. So we started it over, he moved back up a bit and began revving it and honking yet again. He got another good take off this time, stayed with me till i put the pedal to the floor and began pulling on him. Got another half a car length on him before i let off and hit the brakes. Probably got between 70 to 80's, wasnt a very long race...
It kinda seemed as if this guy, isnt a very good racer. I couldnt figure out why he wouldnt edge his car up and get even with me on those 2 runs. I guess it didnt matter either way, since i gave him the jump on that 2nd run and was able to catch & pass him.

I thought the LS6 intake and exhaust changes were supposed to have made some impact on the low to mid range powerband. Trending Topics

the earlier ls1 fbodies have the more aggressive cam, but i don't think it makes up for the ls6 intake in the later fbodies. when i put my ls6 intake on, there was a definite increase felt at the seat-of-the-pants. i would guess that given the same mods/weight, a newer fbody would probably pull on the older at least up top.

Im not to sure on what year the Z28 may have been, we went our separate way's after that 3rd run but i really pulled on him during the 1st & 3rd runs. The 2nd, he launched it pretty good, better then i expected after the 1st run.
