Default met the new challenger

on my way back to civilization. as i came back into town cruising at 60mph when a SRT8 Challenger came into my review... now i'm thinkin it looks pretty mean but i figure i wont even get a chance to see what it'll do. i cant tell for sure but it looked and sounded stock. so he pulls up next to me and with me being a little anxious i give it a little rev to catch attention. he glances over in recognition. and then proceeds to downshift. now its an automatic but are they(four speeds? idk) but anyways he downshifts and rpms raise so i do the same. mine is an A4 94 Z28. he must've caught a gear before me because he jumed out about a car on me. we went to 110. after his innitial jump i stayed on his back fender.

the second time we came up to a light and i could tell it was on. I braked it alittle to 1200. then green and i was gone. i had about a length on him at 60 and probaby close to 2 at 90. and we ran into traffic. we came up to another light and he rolled down his window and we just talked a bit.

i figured this is probably pretty close to correct because i have watched the youtube videos of the srt8s and i know my car will run 13.1 at international speedway in wichita. so chalk one up for the ole LT1... made the recent mods all worth it. my dad has been talking about getting one... cant wait till i smoke his brand new car! haha

Not really. He owns a nice, new SRT-8 Challenger. Not everyone gets a new car and expects it to be the fastest thing around. It's not a competition of who can go the fastest for the least amount of $.

you're telling me that if you just spend that much money on a new muscle car you wouldn't expect it to toast a 94 z28? I'm sure he was disappointed not knowing the Z was modded

Most people don't buy new cars with the intention of beating cars that aren't made anymore. He's driving a car that's 15 years newer, so I think he's ok.

The SRT-8 owner chatted with the OP at a light, so he probably wasn't too stressed about it. If he mistook a H/C/full exhaust LT1 for stock, then he's a dumb *** anyway.

I look at it like this... I'd love to have a new Camaro. If I got one, I'd keep the mods simple.. maybe CAI and tune. Assuming those mods would put me in the high 12s range, I'd expect to run close with lightly modded LS1s and lose to some of the more built up stuff, even if it's a 98 (over 10 years older than my 2010 Camaro). I don't like to lose no matter what the race is, but I definitely wouldn't go around thinking my near stock Camaro is the king **** of the road.

On the other hand.. If I got that new Camaro and got dusted by an SRT-8 Challenger, I'd be a little disappointed. Once mods come into play, it's a different ballgame. And in this case, had I lost to a stock LT1, then I'd be pissed.

haha.

and your 1/4 time shouldnt be affected by your reaction time at all, your time doesnt start until you cross the start line. you could have a 15 second reaction time and still run a 13.1 because the time wont start until you cross the beginning. not trying to be a ***** either but thought your sig was a little odd.

I was going to type out the same response to the R/T comment. Do you remember your trap speed from that 13.1 run? I would imagine a H/C LT1 would have quite a bit more in it than a low 13's run, and it seems even more bizarre with a below 2 second 60' and the auto transmission.

indeed...i don't see how the new camaro will be too much faster though. they both have around the same HP and the camaro only weighs like 200 lbs less

My mistake.. I'm not implying the Camaro will be faster, but if I got raped (key word being raped) by a similarly priced competitor's car, I'd be disappointed. The two should run within a car or two of each other.

When I paid $700 for my 98 Z28, I went up against an SRT 8 at the track and beat him, I think he said he paid around 40K for it. So I was kinda happy to....Not trying to Hijack
