2000 WS6s new 4.10s got some use against 2003 M3 Well, I am supposed to be "breaking-in" my new 4.10s (yes, stock 10-bolt). I've been a good boy for the past five days (and 170 miles). I am waiting to 500 miles to change my fluid then go nuts with the new gears.
Anyway, I'm driving home from work at a leasurely pace, and a new M3 comes flying up my ***. I figure I'll mind my own business, but he starts throwing revs at me, and taunting me... I could only take so much! So I figure it was time to let my white trash car shine!
I'm not really sure where to shift from 70mph with the new gears, so I go to 4th, seems ok. I wait till traffic clears, and I make sure he has room to follow. I roll on the gas, not to shock the new gears, and holy crap, my car feels totally different! Mr. M3 steadly and quickly fell back during my little blast! Couldn't tell you how many car lengths since he was behind and I was so excited to finally hit the gas with my new setup, but it was pretty damn far! I know my car is modded, but I figured he'd do better then that. Before I know it I look down doing 130mph in 5th, and I hit my brakes since my exit is coming up.
Well, he gets next to me at the exit light and says, "That's one fast car..." and didn't really have much else to say, except he inquired why I was blowing so much smoke when I nailed it. Well, mac headers, no cats, classic LS1 oil consumption, and 200 miles of grandma driving made for quite a smoke screen! Well, at least I can say he ate my dust!
Anyway, I love my new gears. Two thumbs up to Chuck at Sleepy Hollow Transmissions in Westchester, NY!!!

Re: 2000 WS6s new 4.10s got some use against 2003 M3 Congrats on stomping the M3. I think 3rd gear may have been a better choice. I'm not sure though since I've never driven an LS1 with 4.10's. Either way, nice work!

My shiftlight (5600 rpm pill) comes on at about 74 mph with my 4.10s. I would have also gone to 4th (as you did), but I would really have tried to either slow down to 60 (to get good use of 3rd) or speed up a bit to use 4th better.
I do have the shiftlight set a bit low, but I figure I'm at 5800 before I actually shift and I don't make much more past that with my stock motor.
I'm glad to here you cooked him. I moved out here two years ago (Chicagoland) and have a friend in Tuxedo, NY that works in Paramus and drives an M3. He also has a 2000 SS. Sounds like something he would do. What color was it? Where did you run? I'll have to call him and ask if a TA blew him off lately. He swears the M3 is waaaayyy faster than his SS and he went 13.5 @ 109 with his SS at Englishtown.

It was a white M3. Definitely a new one (four exhaust tips close to the center). The funny thing is he really was taunting me... I was really trying not to race (hurt my new gears...) Makes it all the more funnier when he could not keep up! I think stock for stock an M3 and LS1 f-body would be about the same. But I'm not stock
BTW, I finally did a little 1st/2nd/3rd rip with my car today, and holy crap, these gears are fun. NO traction at ALL in 1st or 2nd!!! I literraly have to barely touch the gas pedal or else my tires fry! I finally got the tire spinning menace I always dreamed of!
