Raced a modified WRX
I was visiting my friend who had surgery on his foot on Tuesday. We were in the streets of Los Angeles. I encountered a modified (newest body style) Subaru WRX that was looking at my car and revving at me. So I revved back and we raced. I though it was really bad-*** that we both stopped in the middle of the road, he honked three times and we took off, almost running a red light. I won by about 1.5 car-lengths. I was fairly loaded down too, with me (200 lbs) my friend (250 lbs) and his electric wheelchair in the car. From what I could tell about the WRX was that it had a turbo timer, blow-off valve, and free-flowing exhaust.
My car: Lid, smooth bellow, TB bypass, LS6 manifold, SLP Loudmouth 1 catback
My friend told me that in L.A., that was how people raced- just stop in the middle of the road, honk and go!

WRX's aren't anything to be scared of.
One of my friends has an '07 model with the 2.5L motor, best way I can describe it is "slow". A Cobalt SS S/C feels faster.
Get all that extra weight out of your car and find him for a rematch!!

Speaking of your sig...Daz how far along are you with the LSX swap into your old Camaro? I'd be really interested to know. We can take this to PM if it's too OT but my brother and I own a '68 Skylark GS400 together and we've been toying with the idea of the same type of swap. TIA!

It's just too bad the Cobalt's are FWD

I agree.
It would be really nice if they were RWD, but that would defeat the purpose of the whole "compact car" platform, since FWD is the industry standard for small cars these days.
I guess if you want RWD you can always get the Sky/Solstice with the LNF engine and 6 speed at least
