My car i've had for about 2 weeks now is a Mazda 6 s Grand Touring with the v6 and manual automatic transmission. The only things i've done to my car are: Eibach lowering springs, Changed fog lights to yellow, Put my old wheels and tires from the miata which are Enkei NT03, and i have a mazdaspeed cold air intake which was more for the improved economy since this is a daily driver.

The race started when i was at a redlight with my fiancee and our new puppy weimaraner. This v6 mustang with flowmasters pulls up and starts revving and trying to get not mine but my girlfriends attention so i try for it. I'm not even bothering with the paddle shifters i'm just using the auto. We take off and it's just a non stop me walking away from him until i shut it down at 90. I slowed down and he wanted to do a kick. I passed on the kick along with my fiancee who said they make enlargement pills for your problem. so i just decided to look up the specs for the cars. I knew i had a 3.7L 272 hp v6 but the mustang has a 4.0l 210hp v6... now thats just an epic fail on fords part. Mazda win!

had one of them grumpy old men in work the other day, he was doging on haw crappy a ford was blaa blaa blaaa and i said you know your mazda 3 is just a ford focus dont you, he got so pissed off

Ford does own a stake in mazda.. but the v6 in the mustang was designed by ford.. as the MZI v6 in the Mazda was designed by mazda and sold under ford as the cyclone.. the motor in the mustang is the 4.0l sohc cologne. Ford only owns like 13% i'll double check that but yes they do swap motors around.. It's just that ford has the ability to make it's weak v6 stang into a decent pony with the simple swap of a motor.

The Mustang is slated to get some version of the EcoBoost 3.5l twin turbo V6 sometime in the next year or two. Whether it's in the regular V6, or some sort of SVO-type package remains to be seen. And the 210hp in the 4.0 V6 definitely isn't enough for the enthusiast, but look at the target V6 customer. Do you really want them with much more power? Ford is in the market to make money, which is what the V6 model does. And it does it quite well.

The Mazda 6 is built off the Ford CD3 platform.
It was designed by Mazda, but funded by Ford.
This chassis is also used on several fords...

Your engine, the MZI family, was developed by ford as well.
It's better known as the Ford Cyclone/Duratec series.
Its very first home was the Lincoln MKZ...
While yours is the 3.7, it's nothing more than a bored out 35 duratec cyclone engine.

The MZR, on the other hand, was built entirely by Mazda.

Congrats, you own a car with a Ford chassis and powertrain, but Mazda badges...

I've never viewed Mazda as an engineering master mind by any stretch of the imagination though...
I'll never understand why they insist on still producing the German Wankel Rotary, and the Renesis is an NA 2 rotor no less...

It probably would be, but only because a miata doesn't weigh ~3000lbs...
