Default 06 GT on nitrous gets spanked by cam only Ws6

These are both buddies of mine, I'm the camera chase car...

Mod rundowns:

06 mustang gt- 402rwhp 470rwtq on n2o- 5sp auto, 3,650lbs raceweight, cold air intake, motion delete plates, cat back, 3.73's, tci streetfighter 3k stall, 125hp N2O, Vengance tuned on nitto Dr's

01 Ws6- 410rwhp 380rwtq- A4, 3,500lbs raceweight, Lid, slp maf, p&p Tb, pacesetter Lt's, 3" true duals, tci streetfighter 3k stall, Torquer V2 cam also on nitto Dr's

Race 1- 20mph roll to 110mph- ws6 pulls hard on the hit and keeps pulling mustang driver estimates losing by 4-5 cars by shutdown

Race 2- dig to 120mph- stang spraying in 1st gear pulls ahead 1/2 a car length, says he looked at speedo and was @ 70mph when the ws6 was coming around him, ws6 just walks away from there. Stang estimates losing by 3 cars by the time he shut down...

why is it so common for fbodies with similar or less power to pull so hard on the mustang guys?

I'm not being a wise ***, this is a honest question...it just seems common for a fbody to be down by as much as 50hp and still come out on top. Or is there just some BS somewhere in the mix?

I was thinking the same thing, think It might have something to do with "power under the curve" I saw the ws6's dyno graph and it climbs to around 6k rpms then levels off, well talking to the stang owner I didnt see the graph but he says peak 402hp on spray was made at only 4800 rpms then it drops some and levels back off till his 6k shift points. That doesnt seem right to me but he says his next mod is gonna be cams to move his powerband more to the top end... But i can see with peak hp @ 4800 and not shifting till 6k how he could get pulled hard up top like that

90 ft lb's of TQ advantage to the Mustang. Seemed like they were both good drivers too. How about weight. Was anyone in the Mustang? Bottle pressure? Doesn't make sense.

Good kills to your freind none the less.

they were both solo, bottle pressure was @ 1000psi (he has a pressure guage, warmer and window switch) both on the same tire, and both auto's with the same make and rpm stall. The stang driver just said and I quote "these things are dogs on the top end"

It just goes to show dyno numbers are only good for measuring the HP and TQ gains on YOUR car from stock to modded. I've been beat by people who put down less horse power in heavier cars/trucks, and I've beat people who put down more then 30 HP more then me as well. Dynos are just another tool to measure performance gains from installing/removing different parts on your engine. Just my 2 cents

Oh yeah good kill and nice vid

yea those are my last times, before i put the yank in though...
The last time the ws6 ran he only had a small gm hotcam in and ran 12.1 @ 113 and only made 375ish hp with the hotcam.
The GT has no N2o times yet. It was some what harder for me to keep up since i'm on some shitty street tires and their both on Dr's but in the roll vid you can tell the GT doesnt walk away from me like the ws6.

I ran the Ws6 later that night from a 55 roll to 120ish and he pulled me by 3-4 cars... I think I'd hang with the GT but he didnt want to lose to another T/A that night lol especially since I could only do a high roll...

Nice kill for the Fbod...that is some nasty diffrences given the TQ.

Powerband will definitely make a difference..IMO, not for 4 cars though. I'd have a look see at that 'vengence' tune he's got. I presume that's a mail order tune and he may find that it's not the greatest if he looks over his sheet more. Peak HP at 4800rpm?...To me, that's a flag to look into something. Yes the top end is better for the LS, but still...4800 peak? something sounds off to me.

Disclaimor-I'm not saying he should have won.....just saying it should have been a closer race than what happened.

The gt is sniper tuned on dynojet. Just talked to him last night about the drop after he peaks and said it has something to do with variable cam timing which allows it to retard while in motion. i guess ford does that for driveline and engine warranty. BTW im the one in the WS6
