Default How fast is a stock C5 vette?

I was pulling into Best Buy and there was a C5 in front of me. I could see him and his buddy looking and chuckling. Given my mods do I have a chance against a C5? I will race one regardless of whether I can win or not. I just love the trill

If he was stock, with your mods I think you probably would have taken him.

Stock you might be able to take him. Granted, they are faster stock, but if he is a crappy driver and you are good then that would make up the difference, and with your mods I think that you probably could, especially with the converter.

I think you would have beat him no problem if he was stock. With your mods your car is in the 12.6 range with good traction and driving. Vettes run 12.9's most of the time some faster. W/O my coverter i beat one. It can be done. Even with a few intake and exaust mods you would be there wit him

You'll win- I raced a red 98 hardtop at the track and embarrassed him 2x. 13.20 cars in my opinion.

Mine ran a 13.1@111 with a filter and an x-pipe. I generally trapped .1-.4 guicker than LS1 f-cars with catbacks and lids. If its an M6 beware racing him from a roll (if he can drive that is).

You should take him. Don't let Vette drivers **** you off, I agree that you should have flipped him off or something.

As dontrevme said ... there is no way in hell you are "walking it" unless he throws it in reverse by accident. With those mods you will probably edge out a stock vette with a decent driver. However, you have no clue if he was stock or not. Assuming he is stock is a mistake, especially when you have to hope he is stock in order to have a chance of winning.

Sorry about the rant, but I'm not a fan of the "do you think I could've" or the "if I did this then I would've won" ... that I get to hear so often on this board. The only way to tell is by racing them, period.

Oh btw, you should've flipped them off.

I think your making some assumptions here. You said him and his buddy were looking and chuckling. That doesn't mean anything. Were they pointing or did they yell something at you? They could have been laughing at anything, and looking in your direction doesn't mean they were looking at you. I think you are stereo typing and thereby making assumptions. If they get next to you and rev their car and laugh, or roll down the window and talk smack to you, that is one thing. Otherwise that is not conclusive enough to say he was laughing at you or your car.
Give us Vette owners the benefit of the doubt.

Thanks 69vette03 for giving us vette owners the benefit of the doubt. Not all corvette owners are ********. In fact, if you talk to them, alot of them just love cars. You should have raced him and found out! From a roll, I think he has you. From a dig, it would have been one hell of a race.

I ran a c5 tonight. We where together until 4th gear when I started to pull o so slightly. Judging by mph last week at the track, I would say they trap around 110-112 depending in driver.

Well, I left one part of the scenario out. I reved my engine at the guys in the Corvette. I am not busting on Vette owners. I would LOVE to own a Z06 Vette. But, until I can afford a Vette I am going to enjoy my SS. This is a people issue not a Vette owner issue. I am not trying to start a us against them war. I am just out to have some fun.
