Not my race, poses a big question though
A friend of mine had this race today.
Bone Stock 2000 z28 with no maf or intake lid, just straight throttle body. stock tune.
240sx @8psi 240rwhp.
They raced once from a dig and like 2 times from a 20 roll, I believe. The 240won by about 2-3 cars everytime. The driver of the nissan is a cool dude and a good driver and the dude with the z is a cool guy too. Here's my question, how much of a difference does it make in how well your car runs with no MAF or intake lid? I told him I wanted to race the nissan but he thinks I should race him first. It is stock as a rock with the *** end jacked up pretty good from a wreck. I think if he had the MAF, he might have been able to win, but I could be wrong. What do ya'll think?

The car will read the map sensor if the maf is unplugged, I think this causes it to run in open loop continuously. I drove around by accident for a few days with my maf unplugged, I don't think it will make much of a difference. Does he have a filter attached to the throttle body? I would be more worried about the fact that no lid means no IAT sensor, which can cause a lot of problems.

No he doesn't have any intake parts what so ever. So a 240whp 240sx can outrun a stock ls1 by that much? I know power to weight is a mother, but I wouldn't think that would happen.

I talked to the guy with the 240 about 20 minutes ago. We work at the same place. He and I are going to run at some point. I'm gonna do my best to make sure I get a vid, win or lose.

I am set to race a 240sx with the KA motor that will be on 12psi. It is a t70 turbo I think I will win though. Because this guy might be full of crap because his bro had a 240 with supposedly 400whp and I walked him hard so I'll race him and see. Back to the OP I would think that the LS1 would have done alot better if it had the MAF and the IAT working. If the 240 was stock weight with only 240 whp I would actually see the LS1 beating it with 310whp or more with alot better torque curve and only 400-500 lbs more weight. If the 240 was gutted and/or on DR's and the LS1 on street tires then maybe probable.

240's weigh around 2600-2700, I though 00 Z28's were around 3300, by my math thats more like a 600-700lb difference which could easily explain the race.
Also the 300hp for the Z28 is bhp and the 240sx is probably WHP which can make a difference

00 A4 lid,LT's,true duals,pcmforless tune.
I ran one a few months ago. Im not sure on all his specifics. Random race. We went from 60 to 95, or somewhere in that area. We were dead even the whole time till we came to some traffic. He had a loud *** blow off valve. I was impressed.

on 8psi the ls1 should win...on 14 with a bolt on or two (like exhaust) they will outrun some bolt on ls1's...my friend had one with sr20 on 14lbs with exhaust/boost controller and he outran several of them

That poor car, lol. I think it will be a close race, and the I may pull on him up top. After I do my exhaust, and he ups it to 10psi like he said, that will be a good *** race too.
