WTF do you know about a properly setup turbo car? :jest:

Good race by two quick cars.

Nice, Cobras with 2.8 KB's @ 21+ lbs rule. :D

blacksnake 05-10-2009 11:33 AM

I must mention there always seems to be a "260lb camera man" or other oversized passenger thrown into the mix on these street races.

Add another 1/2 car to the Cobra here then

HA! well unfortunately 14 mos ago I tore my acl playing basketball and pack on about 25 pounds so at this time I am 260 but hopefully soon back down to 230. I'm 6'4" in case someone wondered ;)

With equal boost the TA would have walked away IMO

There's too many variables to say with x amount of boost then this and that. Compression ratio is something to look at also look at the fact that turbo setups don't draw power like a belt driven supercharger does. A Turbo Cobra setup on 22lbs would make way more than the TS setup would.

Pharm0r 05-10-2009 01:43 PM

Sick run. Tell em both to fix their various issues and run again! I bet it'd be a hell of a run

Local-heretic 05-10-2009 02:05 PM

Nice cars.

Too bad the TA didn't have all the supporting mods.

mulalleybs 05-10-2009 02:25 PM

What about a "properly setup" KB Cobra? Strictly Performance did ok with
their Cobra and it only had a little 2.2L blower and a little shot of the dope.
This car had the same mods as mine basically, except for the trans. This is
with a 100% stock long block.

Link

That whole debate can go back and forth for quite a while since both cars can be extremely potent.
However, there are zero 6 second turbo fbodies and there are a hell of a lot of 6 second Cobras.
That's where the comparison ends really for the LSx platform...for now.

I know Fereday got the LMR turbo car down around 7.5 @ 189 but no 6 second cars that I can think of.

edit- I've seen that strictly Cobra run and it rolls the fuck out

Out of curiosity, how many of those "6-second Cobra's" run the modular powerplant???

I can't think of a 6-second modular powered Mustang.

Search for John Mihovitz and his 6 second 281cid modular Cougar.
Just because you can't think of something doesn't mean it's non-existent.
The only 6 second LSx car was "Casper"...twins, big engine, nitrous ("just to spool
the turbos" - ok ;) ) in a tube frame GTO chassis owned by Ronnie Duke as I recall.
Badass car though that's for sure. Still, not legal and couldn't compete in a race series.

Also, if there are no 6-second turbo f-bodies, then...what is this?

Your giving out false information.

That link won't open for me. Is it Casper? Read my post above.
I'm not giving out false information. I'm stating fact. I mentioned Casper
above. BTW...that car doesn't exist anymore.
