Unhappy Got beat pretty bad yesterday

So I stop at a light and a black 80's lookin import pulls up next to me and the dude looks over at me and give me a look... I didn't really think of what kind of car it was, and then he gave a little tiny bit of a rev just to let me know he wanted to race. So I keep my eye on the other light just waiting to hit it to turn red so I know just when my light will turn green. I take off like a bat out of hell and so does he, but I'm kickin his ***!! pretty good but I figured I would just keep on going and put him to shame real good (I had about 2 cars on him from the dig) and then I hear and ear peircing whistle in the side of my ear and then all I see is tail lights... it was a twin turbo Supra WTF! that guy was a total sleeper... the second his turbo spooled I was toast... it was pretty embarrasing.. I stopped and talked to him... Pretty nice ride.

It was just a shock when that turbo decided it was gonna spool... It was pushing crazy boost... He was one of those people that didn't like to talk about what kind of numbers his car makes... I ask him what he runs down the quarter and he just laughs and says I do alright... I ask how many #'s he pushing and he just says... enough.. No biggie though... He let me check out the motor and it was pristine.

That's a respectable death! My buddy has a 94 Supra with a 67mm turbo on it and when he punches it next to me I can't even HEAR my car because the damn turbo screams so loud. I honestly couldn't believe it the first time it happened.

Respectable death. My guess is a MKIII Supra with a possible 1JZ swap. They came with a 3.0l single turbo I6 here in the US but if it was twin turbo like he said, its most likely he swapped in the 2.5l I6 twin turbo that the JDM ones came with.

So it was a big single turbo correct?

I actually LOVE those 80s supras...I think they look great, but I'm also an IROC fan, so yeah.

Anyway, good death...those 7MGTE's can be pretty stout.

Could have been a 2j swap as well....Good death OP. I also like those MKIII's...something about the body lines...idk. Of course I would take a MKIV over it, but if I had to have any 80's/early 90's import, it would be an MKIII

Not to familiar with the Supra's motor, but I can assure all of you that it was twin. anyway, it was a good looking car. The only bad thing was the damn near 4 inch exhaust pipe that stuck out the back almost a 1 foot... haha.

Nice death......

In the last week, I have seem at least 6-7 MKIV Supra's in San Jose alone. For the longest time I hadn't seen even one. Now they are popping up everywhere. And most of them looked completely stock. Man would I love to own an MKIV. Build the motor and single turbo it. I would want it setup exactly like the Bruce Lee Supra. That's one bad bitch.

Very well could have been twin...just usually you don't see a large TT setup...most just go with a big single...

In that case, more than likely was a 2JZ swap with overnighted parts from japan...

Yea, we have had a few start coming out around here too. Newest is a dark, sexy blue MKIV with a little duckbill type spoiler, and some Vold gold (light gold) 18s. Single 67 I think...very very clean. There is also a single turbo FD rx7 that was parked next to it last weekend...same wheels. Both looked ******* great.

I have seen one twin set up I liked...they weren't the biggest, but they spooled quick (according to the graph I saw), and made pretty linear 500-550 ish hp...linear for a supra anyway. But yea, most go big single, or HUGE single that lags too much, but puts down crazy numbers.
