LT1 Camaro vs LS1 Camaro SS
I was in the LT1 and was heading to my Wifes work and a sweet black 01 or 02 SS pulled up next to me at the light (its a H/C car w/ 12 bolt/ 3.73s on chrome C6 Zo6s). Ive been wanting to run this car for a little while now BUT i really did not want to do it then (atleast not from a dig). I just put the 19" vette wheels back on the rear of the car (still sportin draglites on the front) and it has TERRIBLE wheel hop on the 1-2 shift with these wheels. I just picked up a set of MT DRs for my extra set of draglites to put on the car. Thats tomorrow and not today, so **** it, Ill give it a shot.
The light changes and we both come out as hard as we can on 19" and 18" street tires, he spins some, I spin a bit more and he gets out on be by about a a car and a half to two cars. It hops a only little in second and I drive through it. I start pulling on him as I shift into third, by the top of third I was able to get side by side and pull about a fender as I hit fourth. We both hit the brakes hard coming up to the next light. 1 for the lt1
The next light I was in the right lane that ends quickly after the light, he was in the far left with an accord or somthing like that between us.
Light changes and we're off, he spins some, I spin a little more this time and when I nailed second, I thought my teeth were going to rattle out! I had to let out for a split second and get back on it. All this was going on during my sideways lane change to the middle lane By now he has atleast three to three and a half on me. By the top of third I'm closing the gap. I hit fourth and I'm at his rear bumper, but we have been upproching traffic and he hits the brakes and I fly by him (he may have ran out of gear, or it was due to the car he was coming up on).
I was catching him, but did not get by. ls1 wins.

Tomorrow I'll have the MTs on the car and would like to run it again from a dig. Then do a second gear roll. I cant wait to put a rear end under this car with a set of 4.10's or 4.30s
If him and I dont race again anytime soon, I'm sure the tie breaker will happen eventually.

I posted that on a local forum about a month or so ago.
Up until last night I there was no descrepency on how the races went down. I heard from someone that he's been saying that he beat the LT1 "everytime we raced", making it sound like we raced a lot. Now that Ive been talking to more people about it, hes been telling quite a few people that his car is faster. Not really a big deal, but atlest be honest about how the races went down.
If the car is so much faster, how the hell did I make up the 3 cars that I was down on each race?
The sad thing is we were at a local meet together about two weeks ago. We have mutaul friends that have spoken to both of us about the race. When I asked them what he said they told me he pretty much said the same thing. Now when asked they say that he said that he won both races....WTF?
So obviosly he knew that I stated that I won 1 and he won 1, but he said NOTHING to me about it at the meet?
If I knew there was a discrepency he would have been THE FIRST person that I raced that night (although I now know that it would have not went too well, lol. I broke the opti/rotor running a 400whp civic and had to limp the car home).
So when I heard what he's been saying I called one of our friends to "set it up" right now. But he came back with it's too wet out and we can do it tomorrow.
Well it's tomorrow and the car is ready. I let him know anytime he's ready, I'm ready. I wanted to get a daytime vid, but I've heard nothing back from him yet.
There definately will be atleast a vid of at the finish so there will be no discrepencys. If I win I win, if I lose I lose. I can admit defeat just as well as I can take the Win.

A better question would be what was done to the LS1! Or what "type" of H/C package did it have. All H/C LS1's are not equal. Could have been a mild 224/224 cam with ported stockers for example producing a little over 400rwhp. LT1's can make that kind of power too.

The The LT1 has an AI H/C pacakge (stock 643 castings), m6, and stock 3.42 gears (desperately needs 4.10s) It put down 412/367 with a very conservative tune.
The SS has ls6 heads that are supposedly ported with a fairly small cam. The car SHOULD be faster and make more power. But I have heard through the grapevine that it put down a little less then the LT1 did. I dont get too hung up on dyno numbers though, different dyno, different day. Were not racing dynos.
It really should be a drivers race between the two cars, and that my be the only reason that I was able to make up so much distance after giving it up on the launch.
It rained all last nigh, so no luck. Hope fully it will happen soon.

It rained but the roads were dry enough to get it done!
